I just hung up the phone with the worst telemarketer i've ever talked to. This is how the conversation went.
Retarded Lady: Hi my name is _______, is the ...(pause, i hear typing in the background)....
Me: No Thanks. Have a nice day.
RL: This is Verizon and this is very important information.
Me: Ok, go on (Since verizon was over here yesterday to install stuff i figured i'd give her another shot just in case this actually was important.)
RL: We are conducting a survey on television usage for......(another pause, i can still hear typing in the background.)
Me: I don't want to take a survey.
RL: Sir, your information will be confidential, we will.... (pause)....
Me: I'm busy. I gotta go. *click*
Now i could've really laid into this woman for not knowing how to talk, but i find that writing a blog entry while i'm still steaming from her not learning how to talk would be a better output than yelling at this lady.
I wish i had it recorded.

Man, I'm glad I didn't pick up the phone and went to get Baja instead...
The ones I hate the most are the ones from the State Police or any police organization...You're afraid to just hang up on them...Then you think, maybe I shoulda donated since they have all my information. When they say they are with the police, it always makes me worry that something bad has happened...then when they ask for money, I get a little ticked off that they caused my heartrate to speed up.
My niece (she was 14 at the time) once told a telemarketer who asked to talk to her mom:
"Umm, well, she went out for bread 2 days ago and we haven't seen her since!" (all the while sobbing into the phone).
NOT TRUE, of course!
The telemarketer, however, quickly hung up!!!
Or, another time when a telemarketer asked when a better time would be to speak to her mother:
(Sobbing again!) "Ummm, she should be out of jail in about 5-10 years!"
Also NOT TRUE!
That telemarketer hung up even faster! Guess that info isn't on the little flipcard file in front of them on "What to say if...!
I have to say, I only wish I had the quick wit to come up with these replies...I usually just say No Thanks and hang up!
